Full Tank of Petrol on Collection?
« on: 23 June 2010, 20:58 »
Gents, I am about to collect my new GTI.  I mentioned to the dealer that I was assuming that the car would come with a full tank of petrol.  They said "you'll get what is in the car".  Given that I am spending around £30K on the car, have waited over 6 months for it to be manufactured/delivered and that they have had my deposit for that period of time, I was a bit surprised and disappointed by that answer.  What is your experience?

Thanks.

This should have been agreed when you made the deal, just before you signed on the dotted line!! I always do this before I sign including mats, and any extras like servicing !! I would ask them to make a good will gesture or you will take your business elsewhere??

I waited over 8 months for mine, and got £20 worth of fuel.

Oh, and a bottle of Champagne and they paid for a nice meal for me and the other half too, which was a nice gesture.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

They don't call em stealers for nothin mate! There was a 3rd of a tank in mine, although they did give me some rubber mats but a set of 50 quid mats on a 26 grand car is a bit of a windup. @ steve you should get carpet mats with yer car anyway.

Mine was right on the full line.  As soon as I left the showroom, it started going down.  I thought they'd JUST filled it enough so it looked full.
On the last few cars I've had they do about 50-70 miles before the needle moved - and then plummeted down!
My new one seems to move at a realistic pace - and does just move as soon as you've done 5 miles!!
So I DID get a full tank!!
Golf R... 3 door, DSG, Leather, Reflex Silver, Black 19" Talladega Wheels, ACC, Parking Sensors, RNS510 with Dynaudio, Reverse Camera, Luxury Pack, Cruise Control & Fiscon Bluetooth.

I got absolutely nothing. Did get a cracking deal though.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

I asked for mats or a loadliner as part of the deal.  They told me "no chance".  But I did get a few hundred pounds discount by going through Broadspeed.  So, not too bad, I suppose.  I've appealed to the dealer's better nature, so we'll see what happens.
