It lies! Mk3 8v 2.0 here, and it runs like crap :D If you reset your trip computer while you are driving, it will jump up massively. I did it one time and hit 99.9MPG for a couple of miles (even got a pic somewhere I think). Oh, and I wasn't driving particularly sensibly on the dual carriage way :/

Well of course it will jump massively! Before being reset it's calculated the whole journey including the period it was running cold, and the journey to the dual carriageway, including time spent stood still (for which your real time MPG should be 0). After it's reset the whole calculation is based on a warm engine, holding a steady cruising speed in 5th gear.

99.9 is more than plausible - If you were going downhill at the time (even a long gentle slope), had reset the MFA at the top of the hill and were cruising in gear with no throttle, then you would be using no fuel as the ECU will shut off supply to the engine.

45.5 was the best sustained average I got in my MK2 8v, travelling at a steady 70mph on the speedo. I've never seen above 35mpg in my 16v

Road traffic police constable...

Let the flaming begin!

It's best to drive dub slowly.

More people can see it that way.

Saying that... I did get into a race with a corrado on the way home.

Racing on the highway Jaques?...how does that sit with your mates at RT01

Silly me   Naturally the advance driver training you would have received as a 'Road Traffic Police Constable' would prevent you from 'racing on the highway'

However, being as your NOT a 'Road Traffic Police Constable' at all Jaques, but a Special Constable without 'blue light' training it's all irrelevant I suppose

That's funny...

Someone who knows less about my job than I do!

I've never been a Special, I was lucky enough to get offered a place in the police traffic dept. when I achieved the foundation HEC on my degree.

Didn't want to join the Police full time in the end... I'm far too doughy.

So now I'm a warm cuddly youth worker!

Haha yeah... Basically!

Twas a nice corrado actually.

I had a look at insurance for corrados a couple of weeks ago... thinking about buying one.

Only a £110 a year increase over a Golf TDi estate!

Btw Dec, that might just be the most droolworthy sig on here.

Yours and Dan's old one with the wagon on axle stands I think are fighting for pole position.

Chuff's is good too... But he let's himself down with the old disallowance of a few inexpensive mods....

A CRIME!
