Hello chaps,
One last question: I find the front of the car creaks a bit when going over speed bumps.
Is this a common issue?
Thanks

I have this on mine, seems to be worse when cold
It has always done this but got worse (then subsequently better when I had one of the tie rods replaced. Still a little bit of creaking though.

Thanks chap - as I've just purchased the car (from a small garage) I was wondering whether to take it back and ask for the "fault" to be rectified? But sounds like it's a strange "VW" issue...

Sounds like the front ARB is dry. A little grease around there on both mounts should help reduce the creaking noise.

Like hurdy says, try to grease in and around the arb bushes, failing that it may possibly be the top strut mounts that need greased up

Thanks guys - do you know of any DIY guides to help me locate what I need to grease?
