Just popped to my dealer and luckily had one in stock. Just took 20 Mins to fit (most the time was trying to get the engine cover on properly and I still don't think it's on perfect)?!

Idle is perfect on a hot engine, not a single wobble.  Don't know if it's my imagination but I'm sure the car sounds a bit different and boosts a little differently?

Biggest test will be later when it's cooled down and see if it wobbles when at 1200rpm which is when it's been bad previously.

Was expecting to see oil everywhere when I opened the bonnet, I have no confidence in my mechanic skills!

Yes cheers Steve.

The only issue i thought i had was the wobble at idle but it's so much crisper at low revs now and when pulling away in first, must have deteriorated over time to a point where i didnt notice it.  People often talk about a funny noise/feel at low rev's in 1st or reverse gear at biting point - It's gone now??

Not yet. I've ordered the part through a mote of mine who works for VW (nice discount!) but it does take a bit longer as he has to raise paperwork etc to get his discount.

Unlikely to have the part before the weekend and am on holiday next week.

The 'slight wobble' at idle and lumpiness in 1st gear that winyra describes all sound very familiar to me, so I hope that replacing the PCV will help my car too. I'll report back! (eventually).

I have just ordered the part as well although the car started perfectly this morning...... typical

Will be fitting it on sat so i will report back after a copuple of cold starts. I cannot imagine the valve is clogged up as it a low mileage car but i have a feeling that the diaphram is split. The car never has been a good starter when cold so maybe the PCV value was suspect from day one.... here's hoping!

UPDATE.

Starting from cold there feels like there is still the odd wobble for a few secs although I'm sure it has always had that from new.  It's certainly nowhere near as bad as before and once warmed up is perfect.  The car is definitely more driveable at low speeds and low rev's, I'm now hoping i can get a few more miles out of a tank of fuel

I've also stumbled upon a guide for anyone who is not sure how to fit it.  Removing the engine cover is nowhere near as difficult as i'd feared, I found pulling from the right hand marker was the easiest way to remove it

Replaced mine on Sat. Bit of a work up getting the engine cover off but managed it in the end.

Made no difference though. Car still does not want to know when cold. It could be the fuel pump is struggling - maybe a bit of air block.

Right out of ideas now. Maybe a trip to the stealers is on the horizon
