My Mk6 was £445 fully comp from Swiftcover, with 4 years NCB and my Mrs as a named driver.  I'm 37, she's 42.  I was with Directline for seven years prior, and they quoted £850!

"We're not on any price comparison websites, so we cut out the middleman and pass the savings on to you" - Erm, hello?  I think you might need a middleman to bring yourselves back into a competitive position in the marketplace!

The other day I got quoted on a Mk1 Golf GTI Campaign (which I'm hoping to buy) - Third party cheapest was £800, fully comp, £560.  How does that work out then??

Mk6, 3dr, DSG, DBP.

Am also having some fun and games with Insurance quotes.
Everyone seems to say Aviva is very cheap, but they quoted me £1850 through a broker!
I am at present with Zurich (£500 with no excess and European cover, legal costs etc). But they want to charge me an extra £40 a year for rear LED's!
I've told them that I will soon be cancelling my Insurance with them as their extra charge for rear LEDs is unreasonable. I have yet to do so, but will in my own sweet time.

Bloody hell, when I get my LEDs fitted will I need to tell my insurance company then? what does changing the lights matter to the already inflated price?

I personally wouldn't bother tbh.

Some people say you should tell them about EVERYTHING but the lights are VW OEM so in my eyes they can just f**k off. (LEDs are now standard on all GTIs)

Well I am not going to say anything about mine as the new VW Golf GTis have LED's and as mine is only 2+ months old, I will simply tell them that VW updated mine as a goodwill gesture!
Fcuk 'em.!

But you might have to, in fact, you should to be safe. See what they say and if they charge you, tell them you are leaving them as you have had a more competitive quote. That will put a cracker up their arse and they might relent. Make sure the donkey who takes your call understands that they are standard VW Golf REAR LEDs, 'rear' being the operative word.

I hate faffing around with insurance quotes. They just add an unreasonable addition to costs as I live in London. I think Steve30 has the same problems.

It's never easy is it?
