Look what some tw@ has done!!!!
« on: 27 May 2010, 20:55 »

Well somebodys hit my car and just left it, i'm fuming. It looks a right mess, it's the front bumper. Will a bumper specialist be able to sort this? Ive been to VW and they want £320 to repair which is scandalous. What are my other options? Anybody got any ideas??? Ta

Yeah it does pal, idiots. I'd never dream of doing that, they've snapped the clip on the bumper I think so it won't clip back

Horrible thing to happen. :sad: :sick:
You need it fixed but in such a way that the repair does not show. There is no cheap way out. Can we have a look at it with a bigger photograph please? Has the bumper been distorted?

I'll take some after, the bumper just has a few scratches on it and there's a little dink on the wing.

I keep a Van de Graaff generator in my boot, so that when anyone so much as touches my car, they get a 20,000 volt shock up their @rse :angry:

Arggh, feel for you, bloody annoying.

Okay, my 2p-worth....

Option 1 - There are various plastic welding kits available for automotive use - IIRC, Frosts may do one, Eastwoods would be another candidate. If you have all the fixing points, albeit snapped off, with some time and care, you may be able to effect a fix yourself. Prob worth a punt for the cost of a kit.

Option 2 - When I had a minor spill on a GSX-R600 a few years ago, I took the damaged panels to an outfit near Theale, Reading, who specialize in working with this type of plastic and repaired it...so, suggestion being, to search for a motorbike plastics repair outfit, as it's probably the same type of plastic.

Option 3 - bite the bullet and get a new bumper. If its any consolation, my mates got a BMW 335d (E96), somebody was texting/radio'ing last week and nerfed him from behind, seemingly minor damage to the plastic (cracking and deformation), but BMW have quoted over £1,100 to remedy - they want a new crash structure fitting behind the bumper!  :shocked: Thankfully the other guys insurance is coughing up, but by comparison, £350 is not quite as bad.

Hope thats helpful

Here ya go --->

Can't see any UK contact info, but many years ago I did buy Eastwood stuff, and it deffo wasn't from the US - give them a shout/email them and see if it can be bought locally.

Couldn't see anything on the Frost website, but if it were me, I'd call them and see if they know of anything.
