My mk3 8v was a 96 and I owned it 10yr. 95,000 later no rust bar a but on drivers door where a mate dunked under the bump strip. No issues bar the ignition shorting due to constantly being left in secondary position. Most reliable car that saw me through lots of shows n was generally fun. No mAf issues but this was definitely something for all the mk4s...my gttdi n mates 20v all suffering.

Snobbery about mk2s will end when the parts dry out...and the chavs have raided the mk4 and destroyed it's rep. The mk5 benefits from being a proper performance car. But no doubt a few sheds will appear...mk6 has already been barryboy'd lol

I'd say it's a good time for mk3 16v track day car pick up then!

Maybe but a MKII 8v is still quicker than all the MKIII GTI's and the early MKIV turbo's. So I wouldn't say they suck.

What's so funny about that?

Nick

Probably because a mk2 8v is not faster than any of those apart from other 8v's

Did someone say 'haters'?

Would now be the right time to post this image:

I don't talk to some of my family.

They're fat, stupid and ugly, too.

That mag cover makes me laugh, they had one of the 1st ones built and most of the issues were sorted on the later cars plus it was stolen and came back with loads of faults which you cannot blame on the car.
