I had a punto prior to my mk3, it was only a 1250 engine in it, but it went suprisingly well considering the little engine.

My dad has a 1250 punto and its easily faster than my mk3 1.4i astra, and neither him nor me had any reliability problems with the punto.

Think I will stick with VW now tho

My Valver seems to have that stalling problem intermittently.  I reckon its something to do with my injectors because whenever it oes it I stick some redex injector sh!t in and it sorts it out.  As for the punto GT my mate had one and it was fast but no way should be able to beat a valver top end.
regards
marco

If you've got 160k on the clock there is no way the car is in top form at the moment. Sorry.

At the very least the injectors are probably over the hill, the fuel system may have problems, and the fact that it stalls is not a good sign.

Mine's got 164k on the clock, and put out 180 bhp at stealth a month ago...

for a standard, non modded car it must be very special. you must be a very proud owner.

my engine was put in back in 1990, when the car was only six months old. All its had done since is tappets (month before last) and a valve spring has been replaced.
So yes, I am proud.
