The Mk6 rules and by a reasonable margin.
I'll post pictures of my Mk6 and neighbour's Mk5 nose to tail soon.

The Mk5s body is covered in unnecessay addenda which was fine for the early 2000s.
That is, the Mk5 has too much go-faster plastic everywhere making it look more Japanese than European.

But to be fair, when it was released it was way ahead in its looks over its competitors. These differences are less with the Mk6. In its heyday, which was not that long ago, it ruled supremely and more than the Mk6 does today.
It is still a very good car, but slightly dated especially on the inside.

Sorry, but I have to stick up for Wolfgang!

I saw a golf R at the weekend for the first time, it was nicer than the mk6 gti but if i wer looking for that sort of motor i'd go for a S3.

is that just because the s3 is cheaper? or because you want the old model with a new a3 shape due out??

The bland, zero road presence, styling of the Mk6 was an attempt to stop the Golf taking away profitable Audi sales.
Fair enough, but it's a shame for the GTI.
