Well today's new problem is....
Right front wheel bearing very loose and brakes are sh!t!
Right front wheel has lots of play on the bearing. Need to swap the hubs over with the 16v ones that have new bearings on it, which leads up to my brakes problem. the 280s are shot, both the pads and the discs so I need to stick the 288 calipers and carriers on which have almost new discs and pads on them. Lucky for me the hubs, discs and pads will cure the wheel bearing and sh!t brake problems. Unlucky for me, I need new front brake hoses as they are a different fitment to the 8v ones! I'll probably get some braided hoses.
Also a
potential problem is the speed sensor which is possibly on it's way out, I need to investigate it.
Work needed done soon is rewiring of the front ABS cables as one of them is peeled to the wires and the other was crushed and ripped off when it came loose and got caught under the wheel.
And engine mounts too, front and rear engine mount especially need replacing, and I'll do the gearbox one too while I'm at it. Front mount will probably be replaced with a solid mount (if mk2 and mk3 mounts are the same, I'm not paying almost £100 for a vibratechnics mount!)
Recently replaced front coolant flange as it was leaking, but I think it may still be leaking as I had to top up twice now, not a lot, but enough to cause me concern. I think the reason for topping up though was the fact that engine had cooled without me topping up after swapping the flange. I topped up with engine hot, then topped up again with the engine hot. We shall see!
Engine oil is also leaking somewhere, I think it may be from the sump, around the gearbox area. So new sump gasket is required at some point soon.
HOPEFULLY, after all that...car should be good for another week of trouble free motoring
