Its a good thing to know. I don't see y everyone worrys about it though
I've rewired mine (like for like) but never pulled an engine though... I wish the MK1 had the same setup with the front panel as MK2s... you can remove the front making it far easier, the MK1 is all welded up.

yeah but what a pain in comparison.... you can just trolly a mk2 motor out.

Yeh that's true haha just drop subframe.I see what you mean though. Easier on the mk2 but a lot better on a mk1. :D

right. kai and liam are you free between christmas and new year at all?

i need to give myself a target to get this motor in.  that will give me enough time to replace cam belt and clutch and strip and clean ancilleries.

anything else i should replace while its on the garage floor?

Am free mate between them. It shouldn't take more than the day neway aslong as we have an engine lift. 2 on engine one on electrics it'll b done in no time mate. Haha

I might be able to lend a hand too mate, I'm only in Lincoln just off the bypass anyways, and I've done this before

I didn't worry too much about the loom, but I wish I'd had another pair of hands to help when I pulled the loom through, would have been much quicker. Its easy to roll the engine and gearbox out in one lump on a skateboard, but getting the other one in isn't as easy this way, a crane makes it a lot easier (I scratched some of my inner chassis legs fitting the engine on my own using a trolley jack).

I did a subframe swap when I did mine. And trolley jacks haha. Joys of engine conversions. :D
