Aerial and bad reception
« on: 04 May 2010, 22:48 »
Just wondering if having poor radio reception is a common issue in the Mk4, I have tried several different aerials but non seem to make a difference so I'm after a bit of advice as to what could be wrong and the best way to fix it?

I presume to get at the roof aerial I need to remove the headlining? Is this easy or will it never be the same again?

As I'm sure you can imagine this problem is only small but quite annoying all the same so any help would be greatly appreciated.

whenever you fit an aftermarket stereo you need to fit an aerial booster as otherwise the radio reception will be appalling

Thanks for your reply, I have fitted this which I think is a similar thing:

It has made a difference but not as much as I thought it would and the reception is still poor in some areas. Seems very strange for a modern ish car. All the connections seem to be ok behind the head unit so I can only assume its the other end but just wondering if anyone has come across this before and how they solved it.

Thanks,

Ah maybe I have not connected the blue wire correctly I just attached it to the blue wire on the ISO adapter which connects to the blue wire from the cars wiring harness!

So from what you have said I actually need to connect it to the blue wire on the back of the stereo?

Thanks,
