quick advice needed re smash

From what i know, the police only have to be informed if someone is injured or you smash into public property!

If they do write it off, cos of economic reasons, they let you decided whether they come and collect it so that it can be scrapped, or you can deal with the car, i.e. keep it and repair it yourself!! ?plus they will give you the money that they think the car is worth!

Thats what happened when my first golf was written off, i think most insurenace companies do this

if that happens, you can opt to keep the car and receive the value of the car minus the scrap value. Then pay to have it repaired yourself.

yeah thats a sh!t attitude of the girlfriend, i can kind of understand that if she was a new driver she might have got scared by the fact she'd just crashed but still. dont think they'd be getting a christmas card this year!!!

I used a 3rd party claims specialist called help-hire. Pay them a tenner and they do all the chasing for you, insurers/solicitors etc, only thing is you have to use one of their approved garages to do the repairs and they send their own assessor out. They also handle the personal injury side of things. If you need a hire car they arrange it and claim the costs off the other insurance company (only if it comes to more than ?40, at ?2.50 a day)

I would do the same thing if i owned a limited and someone wrote it off

they probaly wont, they didnt with my old golf that has just snapped the 50000 mile mark and was in near enough mint condition except a slight dent in the door

If the B1tch is nasty enough to drive off, her version of events to her insurance company might not be the same as yours, ending up in a dispute between the insurance companies as to who is to blame

Get it in first. The wife ended up in a dispute with a farmer over an accident where on a country lane he skidded into her. I saw it all as I was following her home.
He was great at the scene, but not trusting him I went straight home and got a camera. Took photos of the scene including a slight skid mark of his.

These photos plus some quality witness statements ment that he was knackered. Too right. Theiving Fooker

Only downside is that you might be stuffed with your no claims. Insurance company kept my wifes No Claims due to it being protected but then loaded it as she'd had an accident, even though it wasn't her fault.
