Good point there my friend
Reminds me of this segment of Top Gear when they do a piece on old cars and the non-standardised controls. If conventional controls weren't on every car, I don't think motoring would be what it is today with all the number of cars we have and what we use them for going to work and everything else, and if it was there would be millions of more accidents. At least when we get in a GTI, it's familiar enough for all of us to drive and get it moving.

The manual is all foreign to me  I just get in the driving seat and play with everthing until I know what it is and what it does   much more fun than wading thru something that makes my dvd instruction manual look easy

I have spent a total of 5 mins max 'reading' the manual, 4 of those was trying to find it as I had mislaid it!
....and at that time I was on the forum having a banter with you!
Talk about multi-tasking, darling!

As sad as it may sound I don't need to read the manual I just want to.

I've had a mk4 and mk 5 so most things are much the same.

Thing is with such a fantastic bit of kit as this I want to know every little thing about it.

Just imagine you don't read the manual and are driving around with your DRLs on when you can't stand them or lock your keys in the boot because of the auto locking system.

TV manual - unopened.
Blue ray player manual - unopened.
Golf GTI manual - read several times.

Mk7 GTI. DBP, DCC, Winter pack. Mine since new, July 2013.
GTI no. 4. Golf no. 5.  VW no. 7.
