Ok, car was in today, they heard the noise and there other GTD they have does it and supposedly there is a TI bulletin about it and it doesn't require fixing according to VW.  Something to do with dual mass flywheels, clutches rattly gearbox bits blah blah blah.

Only time will tell, wether there are gearbox problems later in life.

My DSG dosnt do this  , I wouldn't accept this from VW , but that' me maybe to fussy!

Interestingly enough the VW mechanic said he didnt think it was right even though VW say "Nahh dont worry about it".  They won't give me a copy of the bulletin supposedly they are not allowed.  Wouldn't mind some evidence so when it blows up in 5 yrs time I can say "well you told me no long term effects".

Question does the GTD share the same gearbox as any of the other models, say like the GT 140?

Ask evo he could probably give you at least a copy and paste of it. As i think he has posted others like that before iirc.
You had me listening to mine on the GTI when i parked it in the garage tonight. Mines not the quietist.

Are they the same gearbox?  You need to do over 25 miles to get it to do it with nice warm engine oil like 98degrees C.  Its quiet easy to hear when its doing it, might try the video camera at the weekend.

Spotted another in a dealership not far, away, might see if they will let me take it for a 25 mile test drive to see if its the same as mine. Seems like the only way.

I haven't noticed any whirring noises of mine. A couple of days after I had mine I noticed if your lightly rest you foot on the clutch pedal it pulsates back and forth. Now to me thats a faulty pressure plate. I took it back to the dealer a couple of months ago to try and have the digital gear indictor enabled (thats another story). While I was there I asked them to check the clutch as the pedal pulsates. They said there was nothing wrong with the clutch thats just torsional vibration in the transmission. I said thats bull so they put me a new clutch in. Now it doesn't pulsate the clutch pedal just vibrates.

I have a friend at work has a 07 2.0 TDI (140) and his pedal doesn't vibrate, virtually the same engine.

I'm still not happy with this.

Are there any other GTD drivers on here that have this vibrating clutch pedal?

GTD + DSG       =   PEACHES & CREAM
GTi + MANUAL   =   STRAWBERRIES & CREAM
GTi + DSG         =   STRAWBERRIES & CLOTTED CREAM

IMO
