Can you reject or do you have to give the dealer the chance to rectify first?

As far as I understand it 3 attempts and they are out.  Its got 410 miles on it in less than a week actually 5 days.  I blame it on over use.  On Tueday it will more likely have over 700 by the time it gets there.  I expect if I had it, next week would be over 1000 easy.  Relegated to my Dads old Rover 600 for a week.

Where do you read that you can do that?

you are well within your rights at this stage to reject the car, but if you do then can't drive it. You need to get a loan car off them asap? If it was me that's what o would do!!

Yes, is it not the 'merchantable quality' thing where if something major went pop so soon you can use this term under Sale of Goods or summat?.

Years back, I rejected a Kawasaki Z900 as it had a gearbox problem.  Got a new Z within a week ..... but they weren't 'factory order' of course ....

Best of luck and push them all the way!

Surely a new gearbox is the end of the matter? I carn't see the problem happening another time. Also thats what a warrenty is for.

I assume all you Manual GTD owners out there don't have this issue???

Try it out start from cold place car in neutral listen, no whirring actually rather quiet.

Go for 30mile round trip.

Come back place in neutral listen for whirr.  If you think you can hear one place clutch down and into gear, does it go away.

If so place gearstick back in neutral does it return.

Let me know asap.

Thanks

Alastair

Ok, car was in today, they heard the noise and there other GTD they have does it and supposedly there is a TI bulletin about it and it doesn't require fixing according to VW.  Something to do with dual mass flywheels, clutches rattly gearbox bits blah blah blah.

Only time will tell, wether there are gearbox problems later in life.
