I just put some gaffer tape around the broken pipe since i need a couple of those adjustable rings, and the little sod wont start now - just like the other night after being off for 1 hour.
Maybe it could be something else ?

Something else I noticed, my grounding wire isnt even on there [for the engine block] and Im not sure about one going to the body from the battery [there is one for the amp in the boot tho].

Looks like you have power steering!  You'll have to get that belt off first :)

You need to get to the p/s pump mounting bolts so you can pivot it and remove the belt :)

does the fuel pump whine for a bit as it charges the system when you turn the ignition on but dont start the engine? if it doesnt then check its getting power and that the relay is working

On the power steering pump there is a hidden bolt as you look at it from the front it up on the right, you'll need an extension to get at it! this got me for days :)

Also check your injetcors to see if they are leaking - do a search there's a few threads on this! - here's one good one - http://www.clubgti.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=12243&PN=1&TPN=1

Good luck

I cant say i can hear a whine but i'll check that today or tomorrow if i get a chance.

As for the belt, im gonna just get my garage to do it quickly for me since im being lazy and its bloody cold.
Im also gonna get them to check out why the hell its not working proper, at least I can tell them whats been done.

Just really frustrated with this machine.
