Think that was covered earlier in the post lol. if im getting muddled with another post, then no it doesnt work like that, just cars before 1974 dont get taxed.

I will have to pay tax, Labour reintroduced it to cars of this age.

Im hopefully getting around 2k for my Astra.

Labour is gone so maybe they will reintroduce the old tax system?

Also, I have noticed that some mk2 models have panel wheel arches, instead of the plastic covered wheel arches. Am I right to think I could just easily take off the plastic to reveal the steel panels?

Seems daft to me as it's what made the GTI stand out from base models... Unless they are shagged cos they are expensive to buy - so I am told (£70.00 an arch)...
