id rather have my mk3 astra 2.0 16v sport back i swapped for this 2.0 8v...drives better handles better cheaper to run and a f*** load faster

So I am looking at a Valver now.

I can't imagine that is much quicker than a normal 8v.


Headliner is sagging and previous owner has already tried to reglue so looking at a new one, but DAMN for 77quid it's a lot. (New)

A 16v bit quicker than an 8v. The power band on the valver means that you have to rev harder to get the results. So the benefits with the 8v are better MPG and a smoother delivery across the rev range so it's better around town.

I am in yeovil and have one, 3dr in the same colour, I dont do ragging and my rev counters not working but could of taken you for a quick spin just to give you a rough idea, wont be ragging the tits out of it tho, past all that and think these cars should be pootled around in and cleaned lots lol.

So I am guessing the power is still there, just put your foot down a little more to get to it?

Well anyway, Im going to view it tonight, fingers crossed everything checks out ok.

check everything mate, electrics, archs, any rattles, noises etc, rear windscreen wiper working, front wiper and heater working, look out for any bodge work!

What time you going to look at it, and where is it too... would come along if you wanted

Tax exempt scheme stopped about 2 years ago. Cars that were at least 25 years old back then were exempt (and still are) but cars that have had there 25th birthday since still have to be taxed.

Ahhh. News to me. But apparently the car has to now be built before '73.

Ive just got a 16v, with the 2.0l in it theres plenty of enough torque for normal driving, dont need to go above 3k revs when driving like my nan, but i could imaging the 1.8 needing the revs.. The insurance for the 8v is much cheaper, im paying about £600 more a 16v lol.
