Just an update, I’ve collected my car from the dealers. After ‘extensive’ investigation they informed me that they could find no faults or any recorded faults. They’ve road tested it, found nothing and I’ve just given it a blast and as far as I can tell everything’s A-okay.

So the mysterious cloud of smoke appears to be a figment of my imagination. Odd! as it seemed pretty real at the time.

Anyway, I thought it could be due to over filling the engine oil, however the garage informs me this is not the case. Dipstick shows full but not over full.  :undecided:

very very strange...............

it's good news sir - hope it carries on working for you.

it is worrying though how brand new cars just go funny like that. i suppose with any mechanical device there is going to be something go wrong with it, i expect though it wouldn't be so soon

yeah i was thinking turbo.  Sh#te!

i checked the oil level after stopping it was near full.

I thought it may be oil overfill, but didnt look too full. I would imagine the turbo will be replaced and back to happy motoring, right???....

check it again when its cooled down - turbo going normally means the oil disappears from the engine

That's what your warranty is for :afro:

The turbo can force all the oil into the engine, Bending pistons and f**king all the valves, In which case will require a brand new engine. Top to bottom £7000 bill at the stealers

+ U dont imagen things f**king up with the car. If i were u m8 ide have it looked at by some1 else. Clouds of white smoke dont just come out the exhaust unless something has gone wrong.

got a second opinion from a mate at another vw dealership. Cars been check out again, found no issues, faults or damage. However, the engine oil level was slightly too full. I'm told not enough to cause any damage, but it could explain the smoke from the exhausts. Simply burning off the oil. So being a lovely chap he very kindly drained a wee bit off.

I know too much oil can cause BIG problems, but he reckons it was only slightly too much and no damage has been caused.

So after all that, it turns out that I was the culprit, slightly overfilling the oil.

Oooops, bit of a school boy error  :embarassed:

To be fair the dipstick is quite hard to read and who parks on a perfect flat to check the level
Golfgti build quality is average at best.
