Ha thanks you two.

Looks like a good guide, I'll pop down VW now and have a look. It mentions that theres two loom though, one with an oil sensor and one without?

Surely if they have my chasis number they can pick up which one I need?

Probably, Don't expect the part anytime soon though....Get the heat shield too!

I think you'll need the same loom as Mr_O and Greg got as they've got the same engine as you.

Yeah mines an AUM. I take it theres a long wait then?

I kind of need it now as it doesn't like to drive very far at the minute.

Would you say this is more likely than a faulty ECU then?

I hope so.

Its very rare that the ECU develops a fault - they are fairly robust

On that thread there is a mention of a 4 week wait

Trouble is VW don't often know how long the part is going to take to arrive. I guess you could phone them up and ask them, may save you a trip?

Why don't you have a look at the harness at the back and see if they're any splits and repair temporarily.

Also we're not saying it's definitely thew wiring harness, but one thing to rule out. Get some picture of it up.

I'm gonna pop down and do some pricing up and see what they say. I'll get some pictures up of the cables soon to see if anything is wrong. Thanks for your help so far!

Just been up to VW.

They had no idea what that repair kit was, but I gave them the part number and they found it and ordered one for me. They said they had 1 in stock so should be here tomorrow!

Only came to £20 aswell.

They also said its very unlikey to be the ECU which is good news I suppose.

So I'm a little happier now.
