Instrument Lights inoperative in 'Auto Light Mode' in daylight. Please help!

All i know is when you go into a Multi storey carpark and you have the lights switched off the dials dim and the red pointers stay lit, it looks pretty cool.To be honest i`m way to busy to study or worry about the operation of the lights in the various positions

Have misplaced both my cameras.
So: I have no decent camera and, besides, I am a really lousy photographer. :embarassed:

I think you may have confused me.
Is this not how they are suppose to work? 
No instrument lights when its daylight as its light. When it sensors the dark, ie tunnel then it switches them on. 
What your asking is how can you have them on all the time. Im sure this will be a setting using VAGcom or a dealer to set it. As i have had VWgroup cars in the past were the instrument lights are on all the time.

Yes, that is right and only then do the instrument lights come on.
However, it is not always easy to read the instruments when in 'head light auto mode' and when the sensor has not switched on the lights due to the dark light levels outside.
This is quite a hopeless situation and I will have to go to VW and have my instrument lights switched on all of the time.

PS: What is so weird is that all was well until 2 days ago when this problem did not exist!
