VW DEALER POOR POOR SERVICE
« on: 30 March 2010, 22:01 »

Im new to this forum

booked my golf in for a 60,000 mile service and a cambelt & waterpump change monday. From the time I booked it in I had nothing but problems sloppy service!! they told me i didnt need cambelt change at 60,000miles,i took it in anyway!!  had wait nearly hour for courtesy car which was covered in plastic covering. Before I left i told them number of times i did not want longlife oil ( i only use it weekends sort journeys just wanted time distance service 5w40 ). During the service was told they had no spark plugs in stock, needed to wait for them in stock. I took the car in at 9am and at 4.30 they were asking if i wanted a water pump change, i told them this at the start!!!!!!!  When i picked the car up i asked them why they didnt do a engine flush which at the time they were goin to do it, they said that they wouldnt recommend this with the longlife oil ........  i didnt wanted longlife and i told them how many times but they still put in saying they wouldnt want to put any other oil in it.Trying to explain  two types oils i certainly didnt want longlife oil, I then had the main technician telling me they only use longlife oil in the golf gti turbo  engines. I left before loosing my temper. I intent to go back get them to change oil,  filters saturday!!!!!!!!!

I just took mine for a service at vw, i changed to time & distance and they put vw502, 5w40 in it, this is what they said they used on the fsi 2.0 turbo engines on t&d, it also says that in the service book.

Btw, i couldent of been happier with the service.

The latest advisory from VW states that regardless of servicing regime, only long life oil should be used.

VW changed their minds on turbo engines a few years back, said long life brew is best all round.  ironically my VW dealer was the reverse and wanted to use the old stuff until I insisted (on TTs advice) they use long life oil and had to pay £10 more for the privilege.

Well, tell my dealership. I've had longlife oil the last two times and then they put the normal stuff in

Mine was replaced by long life oil the following week!

I wish my dealership would put longlife oil in. They wanted to charge me an extra £30 as they said it wasn't the standard oil they use.

I have one of those service plans (first three services for £200) and because of that they will only use the time and distance oil.

Grrrr. Give me long life oil Beadles of Dartford!

Just booked it in today for it's second service, hope they put in Long Life oil.

Also I asked them to see if they can upgrade my RNS510 firmware so that it can read SDHC cards.

Hi Golden,

Ouch I best start putting the cash away then... Was there any reason you chose the dealer over an independant garage?

Out of interest does the computer tell you when it needs a service?

Ive heard the water pump should be changed at the same time so ill get a quote for the lot
