Just picked up new Candy White GTI on Saturday afternoon - everything went to plan. Washed the car on Sunday morning and whilst drying i noticed lots of tiny black spots on all the panels. I got out the tar remover but after 20 minutes of trying to remove some i gave up. Went back to dealer on Monday am and discussed it with Salesman and unpleasant warranty girl. Her response was "what do you expect - white cars show up everything!"  She said it is Tree sap and that it will just polish out - tar remover or polish not moved it and it appears to be flush to the paint work. I can accept that white cars will show dirt but it should be clear after washing surely!! Told the salesman that he better sort it out as this is ruining the experience of the new car. Car going back for them to try and sort out - not hopefull though and can envisage follow up etc.

Any ideas what the tiny spots could be and best approach to remove.

Cheers guys

Can't resist asking Kendos [no one else has as far as I can see] didn't you notice the black spots when took delivery of the car? If you didn't then they probably weren't there and are most likely road tar. [Unless you didn't inspect the car closely before driving off]

I'll stand-in for Kev!
Is this the Rail Dust thread affecting White Golfs?

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

Kev hardly ever swears.
He is very precise in his responses!

Any further banter in the 'Nonsense Thread' please , which Kev started. Otherwise, we will have many upset members.

RickS - pi##ing rain when i picked car up therefore unable to see the "tiny" spots despite checking.  Defo not tar as drove approx 8 miles before washing next day.

am1w - spoke to your mate - good guy. He just confirmed that previous post that tree sap is bollocks and to just go straight to DP in order for them to rectify. Without seeing the car he said it would be difficult to say what it is - but its defo not right and the paintwork should be blemish free etc.

Due to work commitments can't get car back until beginning of next week - car parked up in garage so no extra miles and no chance of any more tree sap or road tar!

Hi Kendos:
Hope it gets sorted out.
The dealership has not PDI'd the car properly. You should have been handed a car with a perfect paint finish.
Correspond by e-mail with the dealer so that you have records.
