MDI cable for Iphone
« on: 22 March 2010, 15:04 »
Hey

Quick question for you, i have just got a new iphone and it is all wired in to work on the Fiscon Bluetooth.

I called the dealer to see about getting a cable to connect it into the MDI so i can play the tunes on the RCD510 that i have.

The parts department had no idea what i was talking about and said i would need to come in and see if they have the lead and to try some out till one fits.

As i live 100 miles roundtrip from the nearest VW dealer, does anybody know what the name of the cable is or part code to save me driving all that way for them to say they need to order it in anyway?

Thanks for any help.

Is it not the same one you use for the ipod?

I bought one this weekend, will look later for the part number.
Parts at my local vw dealer knew what it was straight away. There are usually a couple for sale on eBay

You should have got an MDI cable as standard with the car.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

The iPod cable is part number 000 051 446 C
It should have been included with the car free of charge.
If the dealer is giving you problems tell them to refer to Volkswagen Desktop Bulletin - 0991-08

Hey guys, thanks for your help on this.

I spoke to VW and they had it so i picked one up. Have tried it and the music works fine but it swithces your fone into flight mode so you cant use the phone at all and only the ipod.

Has anyone else had this problem or have i got the wrong cable?

It shouldn't switch it to flight mode, it should ask if you want to switch flight mode on, to which you can press no. :)
