Hmm, thanks to those of you who replied with the positive comments! They actually look better again in the flesh as they really fill the wheel arches and have a slight dish to make them look really muscular.
For those that don't like them, not much I can say about that is there?
For those that think GTIs should stay with GTI wheels all their life, fair enough, I see your point BUT people have been modifying GTIs in the UK alone for over 30 years. I like mine to look as tasteful as I can manage but identifying it as my GTI not some posh nobs company car.
I'm a big Monza Shadows fan, however mine didn't come with them so I decided I'd go off on my own tangent tryint out different things to see which I like best. If my car had come with them, maybe I'd have just put some 10mm spacers on the rear and left them as is. Maybe not.....
And as for Snoopy, you pose an engineering based question rather than aesthetics. You can definately feel the difference between these and the 18'' Monzas I've just taken off. The steering feels fractionally chunkier. Over potholes they feel much the same. I've only driven a couple of fairly gentle miles on them so far so can't comment too much on feel etc.
But, like Monsieur Grenouille my car isn't a daily driver so the wear and tear issue won't hopefully be too evident too soon. I don't have a habit of keeping cars long anyway, but you never know, with the way car prices are going I won't be rushing to a dealership with my debit card anytime soon.
