Rear view camera and LED tail light install
« on: 20 March 2010, 20:07 »
Been on the long trip south of the border to get a rear view camera and LED rear tail lights supplied and fitted courtesy of  "STEVEP"

Long drive down from the north east (poured down all the way), took around 3 hours but well worth it for the end result.

The LED tail lights are so much better than the standard one's and very impressed with STEVEP's handywork in fitting both the camera and LED tail lights. The wiring adaptors for the lights were also made by steve.

Took a couple of pics in the rain at steve's but will take a few more tomorrow when ive washed it (hopefully if it stops raining!)

Started with stripping down the black plastic covers in the boot for the camera install.

LED inners and original outers comparision pic.

AND the finished result.

LEDs look superb, as always. The 2010 must-have accessory! Not really sure about the usefulness of a reversing camera, though...

A reverse cam is a must have at the time of ordering as its only £150 or something and is a great toy.
How much is it to retrofit?

Very nice sundaydriver.
I think the parts (around 15 of them iirc) come to around £350, p3eps from what Steve listed for me previously. The way i look at it is that i would have had to spend £350 extra on the RCD510 anyway and since my dealer was useless at adding options after my original order went in (that was a nightmare month were i lost the battle!) it would have actually cost me much more.

I had to pay the extra for the RCD510 as I wanted the cam and dynaudio... but I'll hopefully be able to sell the RCD510 when I retrofit my RNS510 and make its money back.

LED lights look quality... a lot of wires going on in there!

"STEVEP" did me a deal on the reverse camera, wiring adaptors and lights, think he sells the reverse camera and fittings on ebay for £399 ono.
