Mk2 "Bee Sting" Aerial doing my head in.
« on: 19 March 2010, 22:35 »
Simple question folks and i hope you can help

I have just repaired the aerial cable on my mk2 16v (1990) and have done a continuity check, all good right up to the base of the roof mount (A) but nothing where the antenna screws in (B), is this right? Logic says its not but I just want to check before I start buying new stuff.

Cheers

b is the centre core
a is the earth side of the aerial so you won't get continuity

ahh, so if I check the pin part of the lead in, against part B should I get continuity there?

Just checked and it doesnt appear to have continuity, is there any way I can check that I have repaired it properly and the core is continuous?

the only other thing you can do is put your tester across the earth and the centre core if you get continuity then the centre core is shorting out
with all the effort you are putting in to find the fault i would suggest running a new lead instead at least then you will know its a good lead then

You are probably right! Did check and it doesn't short.

Should I get continuity through the booster? or does it need to be switched on for that to happen?

i would imagine it would give continuity without power
