That must be hurting you or you are pissed off with the car.
Your in a fortunate position of the Golf GTI not meeting demand ,I mean a lot of us are waiting and waiting.
Have you tried the VW dealers. Play you cards right and I'm sure you wont lose a lot.

don't get me wrong as it's a great car. I drive it steady with the odd blast and getting 38mpg... but it's just not doing it for me. (i know i'll get a slating for the comment)

I nearly bought a Boxster instead, but decided against due to running costs that come with a 2yr+ Porsche.  Now thinking i should have gone for it :cry:

Porsche, totally understand Porsche is on another level.
 Don't agree with Evo, as I wrote as things stand today VW are not keeping up with demand so you should get a good price. Of course not more than you paid for it. Good luck.

I few year ago I bought an Audi A3 sport and thought it was ok. When  I put it in for a service and was given an A4 I was completely shocked. It felt what I thought an Audi should feel like. After that I did not like the A3

I would phone a few of your local dealers and get some bids off them. We would like to buy it at Cheltenham VW but are full to the brim with used stock at the moment.

I had a Boxster for three years before my mk6 gti and although I've only had it a couple of days and have a slight issue at the moment, i would say the gti is much more fun. Of course mine is a DSg and has a fantastic turn of pace. I know that on paper the boxster is quicker( 6.1secs-0-60 ) but i would say the GTI DSG is quicker more fun,easier to drive, much more practical and much cheeper to run.IE: £600 plus for services etc for the boxster.As a boxster owner for 3 years it semed to impress other people more than myself. Yet the GTI impresses me so much. Its one of those cars that you always have a last glance at when you've parked it up. If you must have one, what about a Cayman. A much prettier car and finances allow it has to be an "S".

@Devito

Thanks for your feedback.

"Its one of those cars that you always have a last glance at when you've parked it up"  - I thought it was just me who does that!

I've been lucky to borrow a Cayman S for a long weekend. I can honestly say that when i sat in it, i just thought - this is me.. Driving position, everything, perfect. But at 50k (it was only a couple of months old), i had to put the memories deep into the back of my head.  I was balled over by it, the driving experience was fantastic!

I haven't driven or been in a Boxster. I'm assuming I'll get similar driving experience as the Cayman but with less power. I'd be happy with that.

Any suggestions as to what i should be looking for on a 2yr(ish) old one?
