What happens if your car develops a fault warranty wise

My dealer knows I've had a remap and said it doesn't matter. If anything really serious happened, I'd probably contact Revo and ask them to put the original map back (they keep this on file) before I showed it to VW.

and has your fuel mpg dropped ?

275bhp, wow does it have wings

Yes, I only get about 28 now, but this is probably also because I use the 275hp quite a bit

It's all relative, I suppose. My GTI gives me the same excitement I felt about 25 years ago when I first got to drive a Mk1. It only had 110hp, but at the time I was driving a 0.9 litre Mk1 Polo with 42hp

Your memory has faded.  The mk1 is so much lighter(similar weight to a lotus elise  840Kg) and so much more direct and has far more steering feel, its like a gocart compared to the quiet detached bloated heavy mk5 and 6. I find it much more fun to drive as your so much more connected (you don't have to be going fast to have fun) but tiring over a long trip.

You're probably right. That's why I am currently scouring the country (France) for a decent Mk 1 GTI to restore

in order to prolong the thread....

i've driven the new S4 - fantastic car for the money. But M3, RS4, S4.. are a different type of car to the Cayman S, well i suppose you could say similiar to the GTI. Besides i ain't got any family so don't need the seats.

Having said that, was in the beamer garage the other day - > M3 Alpine (white)... looked the biz, very impressive piece of kit.

i only want to spend 23k(ish), was thinking boxster as not sure what cayman you'd get for that money...

You might able to get a low spec S privately. I think the non-s is too slow. Sport chrono and sports exhaust is a definite must if you want a better driving experience. Avoid tiptronics and strange colour. If the car is on 19s, you will need PASM cause the ride is quite hard.

You will not regret buying this car! GT3 is the only other Porsche that can beat the driving experience!

I'm not sure I agree there...
I prefer the drive of a 996/997 to a Cayman - the Cayman is so good it's almost perfect, and easy to drive to your limit
The 911 isn't...it does odd things that take learning, which makes it much more effort and to me, a more involving drive.

£23k buys you some nice 996 metal too...if you can live with the interior!
Hell, at £23k you are heading into C4S territory...and I know which I'd rather have.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.
