Standard stereo removal mk4 Gti

I have the correct pins but for some reason the left hand side just won't open. Short of ripping it out and probably takin most of the trim with it, is there any other alternative???!?

sounds like the locking tag has been bent back
to be honest and save you breaking anything take the whole console out
to do thid you will need to remove the glove box the front section of the centre console and the drivers side lower dash trim

Sounds like a lot of work!! The storage block is above the stereo and i can remove it...

Sounds like i need my tools...!!
