Nice :D was that a gen splitter? I think the VR splitters look better with the GTi side skirts IMO but starting to get bored of them, we all want US splitters

Dan

US splitter ftw!

It was a Eurowagens splitter, it lasted quite well and it was quite a hard blow that finished it. I know what you mean about the VR splitter and the side skirts, it continues around the car nicely. May or may not get a chance to lower it more today, got sh!t loads of work that i'm trying to get done first

Right then, coilovers are now wound down a little! The front went down by about 15mm and the rear by about 20mm

The rear offside one had seized, and in un-seizing it I managed to smash the splash guard off the brakes, so this is now flapping around making a racket

I'll put up a pic of how it's sitting tomorrow, I ran out of daylight today.

I had absolutely covered all threads/springs in Comma grease the last time I adjusted them so i'm a bit confused as to why it had seized. I also managed to bend my c-spanner slightly which made it even harder to adjust them

The US front splitter is similar to the VR6 one:

I want one of those US splitters, I think they sit nicely inbetween the standard GTI and VR6 depths.

Ok, so spent a good 5 hours cleaning/polishing the car this evening!

Started with a covering of magifoam snowfoam, followed by a wash with chemical guys shampoo and then clayed using a megs clay kit. The wheels were treated with bilberry wheel cleaner (although need more attention still).

At this point I rolled it into the garage to begin on the polishing

I tried (and failed) to get decent shots of all the swirl marks that there were in the paint:

Next up I hit it with the DA, it had 4-5 passes with Menzerna final finish on a buffing pad, then the same again on a finishing pad, followed by a hand applied coat of dodo juice lime prime and sealed with collinite 476. So far I have done the bonnet, and the entire offside, so still need to do the roof, nearside and boot. I've removed about 60% of the defects in the paint, so I need a slightly more abrasive polish really.

Anyway, a couple of pics for the moment. I'll get some better ones when the job is finished and it is light outside! The trim has been treated with Autoglym stuff, and the repaired VR6 splitter will be going back on tomorrow also.
