Ok, so a little update to keep my on the 1st page

Started by fitting the bumper vents that I got from bored_welsh_lad. I found that the horn was an absolute pain in the arse when trying to fit the drivers side one. I ended up having to remove the horn and remount it on the back of the bracket. It means that the horn is now facing the wrong way, but it still does the job.

I also drilled a hole in the drivers side one and fitted the outside air temp sensor:

Got the drivers side fitted nicely:

However the passenger side isn't a very good fit at all :undecided:

After spending an hour or so with the radio on in the garage I went to start the car and the battery was flat. I couldn't understand this as the battery is only a few weeks old and i've driven the best part of 1000 miles this week so there should have been no issue through lack of use. I put the battery on charge over night.

Got the mulitmeter out today and checked the battery, was running at 12.4V, started the engine and it jumped upto 14.5V so no alternator issues. Then I stopped the engine and turned everything on it stayed at around 12V, so the battery appears to be ok as well. This means i've got something causing the battery to drain

Finally I spend a few hours taking my clocks apart to fit extra UV LED's, the dials now look like this:

I also wrote a guide, which is now in the Mk3 Maintenance section if anyone is interested:

Just to say, I fitted my cold air feed about 2 weeks ago, and I'm pretty sure its not in my head that there has deffinately been a difference. Response is much better, sounds a bit louder, and has improved fuel consumption by about 3 or 4 mpg. Funnily enough my cold air feed looks exactly the same as yours, I acquired it from work. lol

Are you running amps in your car? my girlfriend only uses her car once a week, and if i dont disconnet the amp, the next day it will be flat, and its a new battery.

i found the nearside fitted well but the offside didnt, but its not going to fall out  (didnt think about the air temp sensor)

the new lights look cool too..

I was running a sub/amp but removed them as soon as I started getting problems, and it hasn't sorted it :undecided:

I saw that yours didn't fit right either, maybe a slightly dodgy batch. It doesn't look too bad but I may try and tweak it when the weather improves!

If you have a remote wire going to the head unit this wouldn't happen :) it would only turn on when the head unit is on. Looking good Dom, would love a red car :(

Nice work Dom... dash looks good and I know that the camera never gives a true impression and over exposes it.

Question, why did you relocate the temp sensor to the outside so it gets hammered by head on wind?...  The reason they are usually fitted inside a chassis leg is to ensure an accurate reading that's not affected by wind chill.  You'll find that when its 0 degrees outside and you're doing 70 it will read -10 or something daft, and on a nice summers day it could be 28 degrees but then you go for a blast and it reads 18?

I've got a bit of a soft spot for red cars

The wiring behind my head unit was a bit of a mess and I couldn't find the remote wire, so just wired a switch into the dash  :lipsrsealed:

Yeah camera doesn't show the dash how it is at all, looks loads better than that!

Re: temp sensor, the only reason that I did it is because it was like that as standard. The blanking plate thing that I removed to fit the vents had a hole in it with the sensor poking out, I assumed it came out of the factory like that? :undecided:

As dom says - they are located outside on the mk3 as standard - iv moved mine to a place behind the lower vent tho

Forgot to mention I also got the tracking done last Wednesday and it is out already! It's heading into the garage this Wednesday to get the bushes, top mounts, ball joints and track rod ends (and anything else that could cause it) checked.
