Ok, so after a lot of swearing, shouting and grazed knuckles here is the result:

It's not perfectly straight but it's good enough! It's surprisingly quiet, really not much louder than my standard system so i'm thinking a custom pipe to remove the middle box might be in order!

I thought that when I fitted my back box, didn't make it much louder, so fitted a decat still not much louder so contemplating getting rid of the middle box. Looks smart though mate. Money well spent?

Yeah i'll probably remove the centre box sometime before the summer! Yours sits better than mine, I may have to get it up on some ramps to adjust it as i've now got a heatshield rattle as well

I'm sure as hell not spending any more time wriggling around underneath it, I think i've developed claustrophobia

i removed the headshield from the back box area and also removed the front (closest the bumper) hanger and rewelded it back in a better spot

did you use the magnex fitting kit ?  i didnt bother

not easy getting exhausts to sit right on the mk3, took me ages to get mine right

I only have 2 heatshields, the one around the manifold/downpipe (which is clamped down with jubilee clips) and one over the pipe between the cat and middle box (this one is rattling), you reckon it's worth just ripping it off or should I screw it back on?

I didn't use the magnex kit, just new hangers and sleeves from VW. It went on a treat

ahh, the middle one should extend right back over the back box, i ripped mine off the backbox ares and cut it from the rest of the shield, i know the bit u mean as mine was touching my bit of section of pipe, i had to use tie wraps to secure it - didnt work and neither did new genuine clips

Here is what to do - Exhause heat wrap round the part of pipe thats touching - pack it tight = no rattling

Cheers Wayne

However, I went out earlier and it is knocking quite a lot around the middle silencer, possibly on a torsion bar? Also sounds as if it's rattling on something other than a heatshield as well

Means i'm going to have to get it up on some ramps to look at early next week, there's no way i'm doing it with trolley jacks/axle stands again!
