well she's looking tidy now so if it doesnt need anything urgently then thats good! Boo to the TAX... i was really annoyed when they changed the laws on TAX exempt stuff because my car would have been exempt now if they left it alone!

Cheers mate :afro:

I'm pretty sure that another problem will emerge soon enough! I don't think theres been a month since i've had it when it's not needed anything doing to it! The joys of owning a VW

They changed those laws a while ago now didn't they? A mate of mine has a VW camper that was registered in early January 1973, he's in the process of disputing whether or not it should be tax exempt.

Taken from this website :http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/TaxationClasses/DG_4022042

Quote
Old vehicles constructed before 1 January 1973 (historic vehicles)

If your vehicle was constructed before 1 January 1973, you could tax it in the 'historic vehicle' tax class. Further information can be found on leaflet INF34.

His argument is that for it to be registered in early January 1973 in the UK, then the date of construction in Germany must have been before the 1st of January 1973. I haven't asked him about it for a while but i'll get an update off him soon and see where he's at with it!

I like my standard lights, I was gonna get some hella quads but don't think they'd look right on my car  :undecided:

The ones your running now really suit the look of your car. If your going to switch to standard i'd smoke them

Stubby aerial will be done fairly soon, backbox sometime in the future. I've only had the car 5 months and think i've done quite a lot to it in that time. I'll go lower whenever I move out of my parents house, I catch the splitter coming off the drive as it is

Cheers for the comments

I'm gonna hang fire with the wheels for the moment, going to stick with these ones as they are until next summer I think. By that time I should have saved enough money to source/refurb something a bit different. That gives me plenty of time to find something I like, plus they won't take a battering over the winter.
