Imobolizer key in water

Just a quick question i've been thinking about if you drop an immobolizer key or a key with a transponder in water would it still start the cat, im thinking of an original VW key with a cobra imobo key??

I know there no batteries in the chips or anything so i couldnt see what harm it would do.

didnt even think how dodgy that sounded, im going camping and tbh i wouldnt wanna leave my keys lying round, thinking iv i take a dip in the ocean would it muck up the keys
