I doubt it would damage the chip as its completly sealed unit with no external electronics.

I dropped my phone in a pint of beer once, dried it out and it still worked but died a few weeks later.

As long as theres no battery and no power source you will be fine (dont use it till it drys though)

Like a flash key, you can go swimming with that and it will still work. As long as there is no power on the bored you have no problem with any electronics, the problem comes when there is power on the board, the impuritys in the water cause a short circuit between the points where its wet.
