Been restoring the plastics in my engine bay. Used some back-to-black spray on my belt cover and it worked fine. My airbox however still looks awful and grey. It was seriously caked in dirt. I got it spotless again and sanded away imperfections and everything but the back to black spray is having little to no effect. Is it safe to use a normal plastic primer + satin black spray paint on the outside of the air box or would I need something specific?

Pretty sure I have seen a few posts/threads on painting the engine bay, have you had a search?

should be okay tbh i have my lower engine cover,battery cover and air box upper cover all painted in this method and they are fine

a mate of mine painted all his fuse covers/air box etc on his astra with no issues.

Helloo,

A few years back i colour coded the engine covers on my dads passat i was driving at the time.
I did a quick write up for the ukpassats forum at the time which ive copied below.
