Help just cleaned throttle body now have a problem

mate all i know is my car had a new starter fitted this week vw disconected the battery my rev counter was all over the place nd the car kept cutting out. I took it back they cleaned out the throttle body out when i asked why they said when you disconect the battery it upsets the settings so as said leave it connected and give the TB a real good clean.

Hi justvto let you all no I took the throttle body off again to day and cleaned it again around the butterfly and even in the little pipe at the top and now it's all ok and runnig fin and the revs are steady. Thanx for all your help

Did mine today. It wasn't as dirty as I expected to be honest.

Probably means my occasional rough idle is down to something else

ECU adapts settings over around 25/26miles.

Disconnecting battery just makes it do it straight away fresh.

It doesn't "Cause" problems and no vagcom is required.

on my mtor when cold start the revs sit in between 1k-2k till it warms up then settles this normal or is this something to do with my splitter valve being open?

The info I put up was from the local vag garage they said after the battery is disconnected it can cause the settings to default.

I cleaned my TB and it seems to run worse, i got right in and cleaned every bit i could but it still isn't normal after 500 miles of driving. It's an agu with cable throttle, idles at 1100rpm when it's warmed up, used to be 800rpm

No thats exactly what they do...Default and then counter and adapt again rather than taking 26 miles to do it.
