Retailer Supplied Accessories

Regarding Retailer Supplied Accessories:

(1) In the brochure it clearly specifies that it is £162.50 including labour and VAT to fit Cruise Control. The cost of the module is £57 inc VAT. As the Golf GTi has a multi-funtion computer no other major parts are needed. Two dealers I have spoken to were pretty clueless about this and wished to charge £250 + VAT = £293.75! I can get this done for an all in cost of £160 by OEM Retrofits. Fitting time according to VW is 150 TU.

(2) With regard to the Steel Door Sill Trims for the 5 door GTi the brochure price is £153.50 including fitting and VAT. The cost of this part is £97 inc VAT. The dealer wants to charge me £135.18 + VAT = £158.84, slightly higher than the brochure price. Fitting time according to VW is 50 TU.

(3) The luggage net, which costs £41, is not available according to my dealer. I checked this and it is available to special order and is a customer fit accessory.

VW dealers still seem to be overcharging. Most of them are completely unaware of the newly printed Accessory Brochure!

The prices and info have always been avavilable online on the accessories website.
They can getaway with chaging what they like due to the disclaimer in the brochure. That says "price correct at time of printing......"
They don't call them stealers for nothing you know

PS: If you want something from them give them the part number that way they can find it easier. The net comes up for a TIGuan for me and its also available from Audi dealers with the same part number.

I gave them the part numbers and got the prices quite easily.
The problem I have is that they are overcharging with an obvious fiddle of their labour rates!
STEALERS they are to me from now on!

James G:
How much did your stealer charge you for the accessories?
Or
Did you get them priced into the whole deal?

Mine were going to charge even more than the brochure price!
I asked them why? They were unable to give me an answer!
Then, I asked them whether there was a fitting charge.
Then a light beam must have hit them suddenly!
'That's it', they said, 'that could be it'!

PS: It has taken them 3 weeks to give me a final price and I am still waiting!

What's a TU? Don't VW dealers use hours and minutes like the rest of the planet?

TU = time units.
1 TU = 1 minute.
100 TU = 1 hour (thanks evo!)
