Instead of starting a new thread thought i would add to end of this one, with these polishers what do the different pads do, cutting pad, polishing buffing etc etc, was thinking of getting one soon (dual action) and jsut wanted some guidence on which to get and what order to use them in thanks :)

the different pads are for different levels of compounds, for heavy/aggressive compounding you have dense quite stiff pads or even wool pads for use with heavy cutting/coarse compounds , the medium density pads are for polishing using finer componds, then you have finishing pads for the final buffing stage which removes marring/swirls etc with finishing compounds and glazes.

the links in my post above are what i think is good for someone just starting out or have minimum experience with a machine, Da's are safe for the begginer and are a good tool to build on your technique/s

hope this helps.

You can use polishes with hand but quite often they're more difficult to use by hand since you have to break the polish down. Basically, as you polish, the bits of polish break down further and further. A bit like going from rough sandpaper to supersmooth sandpaper. It's much easier with a machine.

There's a link on detailingworld in the Guides section. On iPhone so a bit awkward to link. It tells you how to use a polisher. Basically, prep the polishing pad with some quick detailing spray, place four skittle-sized blobs of polish on the pad. Then place the pad on the car and set the polisher at its lowest speed. Then move the machine around to spread the polish over a small area eg 12in by 12in. Then increase the speed in increments and continue to move the polisher, breaking down the polish into ever finer particles.
