Spraying matt black
« on: 23 February 2010, 00:15 »
I am wanting to have my car sprayed matt black [looked right NICE when we had the frost] what to do it some time next year.

My car is Black already, would they have to do a full spray, or can they just spray over top?

And what kind of price well it be?

plus the added extra for either a matting agent or a flat black paint, either way there very hard to paint and you cannot polish any of it

2k  that's pretty expensive.

Depends if you're doing it yourself or not?

I can paint a whole car(well) for about 250 inc paint and consumeables that's if I don't charge for my time.

Scotchbrite is just an abrasive cloth you use to key the paint prior to applying new paint. you would just be missing out the paint stage and putting lacquer on top to seal the panels from the elements.

Just my 2p's worth. But if you are going for a hotrod inspired look does it not somewhat defeat the object paying a garage to paint it for you?

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.

a wrap would be a better option,

its not just a case of scotching the car, you scotch over chips, and marks then just clear coat,

you can paint a car for £100 solid black but thats crap paint, our clearcoat is about £350 +vat a gallon so you get what you pays for lol
