i need to run a switched live in my mk2 and im not sure how to.
anyone able to tell me how?

black wire at the ignition switch
or you can take it from the thick red/black at the heater switch

You need to establish if when choosing you're wire tap that it is 100% switched live by simply using a multimeter.

^^ Easy mate chill, you can never be too careful. There is no 100% guarentte the cables with be exactly the same colour tho is there?

i'm chilled buddy
i was just explaining that he CANNOT go wrong using either of those 2 coloured wires i listed previously
the wiring colours i have listed are the same from an early mk1 golf right up to a mk4 golf

But there is no harm is checking. I'd never trust something I've read on the net, always make my own judgement... Checking good practice, i'm not saying you're wrong or anything just being double sure never hurt
