Out of interest guys how much do they charge for this "protection" & how long is it guaranteed for?

A decent wax like Collinite might well be just as effective

This is 'protection' as in a sealant?

Not proper mechanical protection, as in Defendall, Venture Shield etc?
Not the clear film coating that stops stone chips etc?

You are correct.
Seen Venture Shield etc (all 3M products I am told) on cars and the paint surface looks very strange.
Edges can turn slightly yellow after sometime. This is especially visible on white cars.

I would have to dissagree on the finish...I had it on a car from new (5 years) and when polished up with decent products, you couldn't tell if it was paint or Defendall film.
And after 5 years of hard driving...no stonechips...only a couple of small nicks in the film on the lower spoiler.

You could see an edge though, where the film stopped part way up the panels, as you'd get a line of polish/wax highlighting it.

Can't comment on the yellowing...as it was on a yellow car!

I like bananas.
Eating them, not driving them!
Just kidding!

So do I...
But banana skins aren't as good at protecting from stone chips as paint film!

Driving the 'right' banana can be fun too...just not a colour for the shy, retiring types.

I had the Alfa 33 in RED and it was a teriffic Ferrari-like colour never stopped to amaze me...especially on rainy days

It has to be on your brain as well if you think about an association....so you are most certain a male

Anyway, I wonder if sunlight-influence is the main criterium or if there is more to it...I do know for a fact that gloss paint is tougher then matt...but if we talk different colours I wonder how e.g. carbon grey comes out of it.

Takes one to know one!
I will find out for you regarding carbon grey.
From what I remember, it was very easy to protect being between silver and black but much, much closer to silver.
