Just a stab in the dark... Could it be the starter motor?

Could be a totally dumb ass reply, but you seem to have replaced everything else....

if it feels like its going to start just as you release the key, it could be a fault with the ign switch. to confirm this either way run a wire from the battery +ve to terminal 15 on the coil. Terminal 15 is where the black wires run to. obviously take care when doing this, and dont leave the wire there all the time either.

Started the car this morning a few pump of the pedal and it fired up second time. There was a metalic clatter but that could be the down pipe which needs replacing. Could it be the plunger?
