Went to clean the tb today but noticed a black silicone looking substance round the tb where the gasket should go could this be a liquid gasket?? I didn't wanna take the tb off after that incase it is. Anyway i took the main hose off to look inside and it looked spotless so dont see any point anyway.

Mine looked spotless when I looked but the car ran like sh!te. I took it off and cleaned thoroughly and you would be amazed how much gunk came out. The car has ran perfect ever since. As for the gasket these will be cheap enough to buy and I would get one first then take it off and clean and remove the old stuff.      Cheers     Deano

As Deano says above, mine also looked spotless initially when i first removed the pipe from the TB....but it wasn't until i unbolted it that i discovererd how much gunk was inside the butterfly affecting the idle massively.

Why is it such a bad thing to remove the switch? I have already done so  :lipsrsealed:
