amp fuse size

hi all me again im running my sub and mid range from 2 different amps they are kenwood kac ps1d and a kenwood kac ps4d and my sub is a kfc wps1d and my mids and tweeters are hertz (orange) front and rear, basicly i was driving home from the mother inlaws were i fitted it all and all of a sudden there was no sound ive checked the fuses in the boot they were ok but the one under the bonnet was blown its a 60a fuse and im using 4 gauge wire live and earth are the fuses not man enough, what size fuse should i use ?

add up all the fuses in the amps ( if they have them) if this is less than 60A then the fuse should definitely not be too small. Even if they are slightly over 60A then the main one should still be ok.

google says your sub amp alone has a max draw of 60A so a larger main fuse may be due but it is not definitely the cause of the blow. My amp fuses add up to well over 150A but I only use an 80A up front, it depends mostly on how the amps are used.

thanx for that mate i also think it mite be a dodgy fuse coz i took it out and it dont look blown but i put a live tester on the battery side of the fuse and it lit up and the i did the same thing on the other end of the fuse and it did not light up so its there but the fuse looks ok

AGU fuses are forever doing that, don't worry about it. I brought a brand new one like it once :) Another 60A should be fine, if not then whack and 80A in there, as long as you are running 4awg?
