WELL.........

The car needs to be back on the road for my birthday (end of June).

I've been plodding along with the car over the last couple of months but mostly procrastinating  :lipsrsealed: The bigger work to be finished includes heater matrix and dash wiring.

I finally finished a false boot floor, made from plywood (strengthened across the centre and batons of various lengths around the edge to level it out - the G2 boot floors are not level, theres a bulge on the O/S). Its been carpeted with some nice black foam backed stuff, which i found in the garage.  Its nice and light, but strong, and should help reduce the noise in the cabin especially if i whack some dynamat on the underside (which I have a spare half roll of), although it wont be quite so light then

The rectangular cut-out fits around the battery, and the front edge which fits against the rear seat is deliberately not tapered back around the arches as then I can remove the floor easily when necessary.

The inner arch carpets need a hoover but you get the idea. I'm on the lookout for a cheap black battery cover/lid, just to tidy that up. I could also do with hiding the main +ve cable too  :undecided:

I though it was a good idea to create a timetable, otherwise I'd not bother doing anything  :lipsrsealed:

By 22/5/2011
Fit reverse light plug and secure loom (I had no reverse lights, wiring had snapped at plug)
Fully charge battery (flat due to being stood)

23/5/2011 to 29/5/2011
Remove dash
Replace heater matrix and connect
Replace blue temp sensor and oil pressure sensor
Bleed & flush coolant system and fit new expansion bottle

30/5/2011 to 12/6/2011
Repair dash/fusebox wiring and secure loom
Pick up LED feed from alarm and install LED in dash
Move fuel pump switch and start switch (or rewire barrel to start)
Check & adjust steering column height

13/6/2011 to 19/6/2011
Continue to refit dash
Extend light loom wiring and move relay box to NS
Order new wheels

20/6/2011 to 26/6/2011
Check engine mount bolts
Clean outside and engine bay
Finish boot floor
Tigerseal splitter & arches
Fit tyres to new wheels

Im behind already

I don't think a semi will give the same results

I'm going to need it, hopefully dash will be out today...

I've narrowed it down to 2 sets, either Rota zero plus 15x8 et10, or the new wolfrace slotmags (40th anniversary edition) which are listed as 15x7 BUT theyre not released yet, nor have I seen any decent "in the flesh" pictures. All the images I have found have been CGI rendered and it looks like the wheel centre is convex not concave like the original slot mags.

Cheers :afro: It will sit a touch lower when ive finally decided on wheels as the scrap tyres on the BBS are 60 profile  and i have some 45 profile ready to fit to the new wheels

I wont decide until I've seen proper pics of the new Slot Mags

In other news, today I took the dash out, took just over 2 hours (which for my first time i didnt think was too bad)

In the process I found an old micro SD card under the dashboard, left behind by Ben; sorry guys no juicey pics, just lots of photos of the car being painted

Plans are to tidy the wiring especially fusebox end, replace the heater matrix, move the start button/fuel pump switch and replace the centre console. If funds allow maybe have the dashboard flocked but I'm undecided...

PICCIES!

What horrors await?!?!?

No wonder the steering wheel sits low, i thought it was spacer'd. This might be returned to stock height:

Start button and fuel pump switch to be relocated:

Ready to go:

Huzzah!

What have I done!?!?!?

Progress at last!
