bad luck mate. I remember when my old mk2 had its window smashed in and had done the same thing. Screw driver down the side of the handle. The car was off the road and due to be scrapped. It also had no battery in it either so they wouldnt have got far. But it still made me feel physically sick! Such a horrible feeling.

I am waiting for something to happen to my current golf :(

all i can suggest is use OE handles and locks, as even the pattern lock barrel snapped in half on the passenger side. also get armoured door plates, saved the drivers side

Anyway i just rebuilt a passenger side door lock barrel to suit my keys, i stripped 3 barrels of their pins and eventually got a working barrel.... a bit of trial & error and head scratching tho. those pins are fiddly too

I don't think a semi will give the same results

Fair play mate - it was bad enough using a box of coded parts to build locks let alone by trial and error

im determined not to let it get me down. something good has come out of it, i now have a secure parking area for the car

which, shall we say, will keep my insurance company happy, as its not meant to be parked outside overnight  :lipsrsealed: so if it was nicked, im not sure they would have paid out  :undecided:
