deleted. :embarassed: as answered earlier in the thread :embarassed:

More photos of that scirocco can be seen on the Kenwood website for anyone interested.

Snoopy:
(1) Does the Zenec have a 30 GB hard drive?
(2) Is the power output from the RNS 510 4x20 watts unlike the Zenec which is 4x50 watts?
(3) Apart from looks (they are quite similiar), which of these two do you think is the better performer?

1) from a quick scan of the spec on http://www.zenec.com/index.php?id=335&L=1 i don't think so.
2) Those are peak figures basically meeningless you need to look for Continious or the marketing term RMSwatts.
3) Depends what your after as theres pros and minuses for both. The VW unit is the quicker to upgrade and does most things ok. Its also worth checking the screen resolution.

It would seem the Zenec does not have the 30 GB hard drive.
I wish these manufacturers would quote RMS values.
They probably obtain those peak values at 100% distortion!
Thanks anyway.

Snoopy:
Screen resolution of RNS 510 = 800 x 480 (? pixels) - do you have the pixel count?
Screen resolution Kenwood = 800 x 480 (1152000 pixels)
Screen resolution of Zenec = 1440 x 234 (336960 pixels)

That Zenec system looks pretty good as an OEM replacement.
I've used iGo8 on my smart phone and its a nice Sat Nav package.  The integrated Parrot bluetooth would be a good feature too.
There are a couple of things though...
1.  Does it work with on screen climate control?
2.  The buttons illuminate white rather than the RNS / RCD's red colour.
3.  No one knows what it really sounds like?
4.  The playback buttons look a bit naff.

I'll stick with an RNS510, but if it was about £400 and I was looking for a cheap alternative, I may consider it.  I have a feeling that its going to cost much more than £400 though?!
Golf R... 3 door, DSG, Leather, Reflex Silver, Black 19" Talladega Wheels, ACC, Parking Sensors, RNS510 with Dynaudio, Reverse Camera, Luxury Pack, Cruise Control & Fiscon Bluetooth.

It is the Zenec ZE-NC2010. Does not look that bad.

I think you may be right to stick with the RNS 510.

Another company to consider if anyone fancies an RNS are these guys, they are a forum sponsor on another forum, although if your after a recon unit it seems darren might be the best place to start.

Although their brand new units are quite reasonable compared to factory fit, does anyone have any experience with them?
